Dr Alexandra Philippine
School: University of California at Davis, 2014
Special Interests: Small animal surgery, internal medicine, ultrasound imaging, and cardiology
Pets: 2 cats (Aria and B.B.)
I grew up in a small town in Romania, Europe. I always wanted to be a veterinarian and when I moved to the United States with my family in 2001, I was able to pursue this dream. Since then, I have been living in California and enjoying the beautiful weather. I graduated from the University of California at Davis in 2010 with a BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a minor in Animal Science. During my undergraduate studies, I was fortunate to take part in a few research projects involving feline genetics and endocrine disease in juvenile rats.
After graduating from veterinary school in 2014, I completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine, Emergency, and Surgery in Walnut Creek, at East Bay Veterinary Specialty and Emergency.
I love working with cats and dogs and getting to know the unique personalities from kitten and puppyhood all to way to adulthood and old age. I also enjoy the rewards and challenges associated with working closely with pet owners to achieve the best possible outcomes. My particular interests are surgery and abdominal ultrasound. I also enjoy cardiac cases and internal medicine. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, running, reading, cooking, playing with my two kitties, and of course watching TV with my family.
