Special Interests: exotics

Pets: Violet, an adorable dog from a shelter. Mango, a cat we found under a car. Both moved with us from Philadelphia.

Veterinary medicine is a second career for me. I studied Industrial Design and met my husband at the Rhode Island School of Design. We lived in Manhattan for several years after college. While there I worked as an Exhibit Designer for the American Museum of Natural History but it was curious that I spent much of my free time hanging out with the Post Docs. I was fascinated by their research and of the far away places it took them.

After a lovely and indulgent month in Western France on our honeymoon, I suggested to my husband that it might be the perfect time for a career change and when I said to veterinary medicine I think he tried to say something akin to “go for it”in pigeon French…I think he knew from years of discussions that the time and the choice were right.

I entered the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine with two small children and some trepidation about attending graduate school with people nearly half my age. After eight years on the East Coast our family ventured home to the Bay Area where I landed here at Adobe.

I am really proud of our hospital and the level of medicine we provide our patients. I work with caring, talented and motivated colleagues. We collaborate and sharpen each others skills and lend one another tremendous support. Our nursing staff is among the best in the field and allow us to work at our best through their unending dedication.

My interest is in surgery although I would say I enjoy all aspects of veterinary medicine…I do chemotherapy, see exotics and can accommodate at home euthanasia when requested. I think my favorite part of being a vet is the relationships I develop with clients. I love getting to know families, hearing about their experiences. My goal, above all, is excellent communication to ensure my clients feel they are well informed and a part of medical decisions for their animal companion. Together we will make a great team.
