Veterinarian Always on Duty

Out Patient Technician

Summary: Our Out Patient Team Members are responsible for all outpatient care and procedures. You will manage all scheduled, technician, and urgent care appointments and any care associated with them.  This position requires at least 1 year of technician experience. This is a fast paced role in which you will use all of your skills!  

Description of Responsibilities:

• Triage patients
• Room clients and patients
• Take an efficient and accurate history and vitals of patients
• Interact with clients, explain treatments, procedures, medications, and disease processes.
• Give IM, IV, SubQ injections
• Competent phlebotomist- from various veins and positions
• Able to place catheters
• Manage multiple doctors patients, flow, and time management
• Enter patient chart into computer
• Relay phone messages to doctor and clients
• Accurately and efficiently administer advice to owners over the phone
• Able to perform basic technician skills efficiently, accurately, and with little supervision, including (but not limited to)- nail trims, anal gland expression, vaccine administration, sub-Q fluids, blood draws, submitting tests, urinalysis, skin scrapes, fecal floats, fecal smears, fecal centrifuge, SNAP tests, and animal restraint.

Education/Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift or move 40lbs by yourself
• High level of comfort around animals, clients, and medical procedures
• Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch or feel using hands and arms on a regular and consistent basis
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 18 years or older
• Fluent in English (written and oral)
• Ability to professionally handle transactions and access to medications
• Background check is required
